CREATURE COMFORTS

CASTELLO DI Postignano

Where to begin? The first stone of this historic borgo was laid in the tenth century, and it functioned for over a millennium as an Umbrian village. In the twentieth century, however, earthquakes and mudslides left the borgo in disarray. Then in the 1980s, a painstaking renovation of the entire castle structure began, one that continues to this day. Regarded as a treasure of Italian culture now, the castle is more than a historic wonder. Through Convivio, it becomes also a site of joy and camaraderie, a place of renewal and creativity.

Wait until you enter your suite, where the riches of the past meet the advances of the present. These are not cookie-cutter hotel rooms but rather individually customized apartments once inhabited by Umbrian families. So while the beams supporting the ceilings may be five centuries old (and look it), the minibar, mattress, and amenities in the bathroom offer a distinctly modern experience.

Meals during Convivio are provided by La Casa Rosa, an onsite restaurant specializing in Umbrian delicacies. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included. Enjoy only the freshest regional specialties, prepared by a Michelin-star chef, and served by a staff that will show you the hospitality of a genuine Italian experience. Furthermore, the wine bar (or enoteca) boasts more than seventy labels, all from Umbria, a region known for its crisp white Grechetto and Orvieto Classico, and the powerhouse red of Sagrantino.
